I was born on this island
In the rains and the flood
My eyes are the blue sky
Salt water's my blood

The dog star of summer
Shined bright on that day

I looked over my shoulder
To send her my love
She said not to cry
But she saw that I was

I dream of the ocean
Reaching for me
I sink to the bottom
And there, I can breath

My home is the island
But there, I can't stay
She is my mother
She is my grave

When I am old
And in the mountains, I die
They'll carry me back
To lay down by her side

My ashes and bones
Will sink into the sea
And the dog star of summer
